Mapping and Surveying – Aerial Data Collection

Steel City Drones acquires data from the air with its high end precision UAV equipment in the form of geo-referenced digital image.  Millions of data points are collected during the flown mission of the UAV.  We use a combination of RTK technology in addition to visual ground reference points for accuracy tolerances in the range of 0.5 to 1 tenth of a foot. Our aerial data collected augments traditional survey collected onsite and can eliminate 80% of the staff costs saving time and resources.  Instead of spending time on the ground measuring…..time can be spent analyzing.

FAA says over half a million drones have been registered in 8 months

At a conference at the White House on Tuesday on the future uses of drones in U.S. airspace, Federal Aviation Administration director Michael Huerta told the gathered crowd that more than consumer 500,000 drones had been registered with the agency since December. At the end of last year, the FAA mandated — arguably as a stopgap against potentially stricter regulations from Congress about how citizens can use drones — that anyone wishing to fly a consumer drone weighing more than half a pound needed to get a registration number from the FAA for $5. While there was a roughly month-long grace period where the FAA was refunding people that registered, if the agency had collected its fee for every person that registered, it would’ve brought in over $2.5 million. According to the FAA, it took 100 years for about 320,000 regular aircraft to be registered with U.S. officials — a feat that drones have surpassed in a matter of months. Welcome to the new site

Steel City Drones has officially launched.  To avoid confusion, if you have ever heard of Designed AV Solutions, then you know us. Designed AV Solutions has launched its own Drone division of the company to help facilitate our customers needs. To further reduce confusion of what we do we branched off Steel City Drones into 2 separate divisions: The first division is a Drone Production Company which is what this website is dedicated to. We also have a separate division that separates on Drone sales, service, support, training, and repair. Between our 2 Drone divisions we are a one stop shop for our clients drone needs.
